Women's tennis is ready for big year in 2013-14

After compiling mark of 16-9 overall and 5-1 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin last year, the future is extremely bright for the Augustana women's tennis team heading into 2013-14. Third year head coach Jon Miedema welcomes seven letter winners and a solid recruiting class that was close to being in the top 25 nationally as he looks forward to the upcoming year.

Head Coach Jon Miedema led his Augustana squad to a 16-9 overall record, including a 5-1 record in the CCIW, good for second place. He will have nine returning letterwinners from a team that finished second in the CCIW tournament and at the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament

Women's tennis schedule announced

The Augustana women's tennis team is coming off a 16-9 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin in 2012-13. Third-year head coach Jon Miedema recently released his 2013-14 schedule (minus some spring contests) and the Vikings hope to build on their recent string of successes.

2012-13 WOMEN'S TENNIS SPRING REVIEW

Behind junior Kim Sawyer and senior Krista Panko, coach Jon Miedema's women's tennis team had a banner season, which included a second-place finish at the CCIW Championship in the fall. The Vikings were also second at the league's NCAA qualifier in the spring. Sawyer and Panko each claimed conference singles titles and won CCIW Player of the Year and CCIW Championship MVP honors, respectively.

Sawyer and Wethington win women's tennis awards

Junior Kim Sawyer, who is in the process of re-writing the Augustana women's tennis record book, has been named Most Valuable Player for Coach Jon Miedema's 2012-13 Vikings. The school's all-time leader in singles wins repeated as team MVP. Senior Meghan Wethington was chosen as Augustana's Hardest Worker.
