The purpose of Collegia Classica is to promote appreciation for the study of Greek and Roman civilizations and cultures.
Collegia Classica is comprised of members of Eta Sigma Phi, an honorary Classics fraternity that recognizes achievements in Classics. The group organizes events for both Classics majors and non-majors, including group dinner outings every term, movie events for the whole campus, and fun Classics merchandise such as shirts and mugs. A Classics cookbook is in production.
This year Collegia Classica has started a new Latin Read-ing group, reading selections of the modern classic, "Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis" (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) by J. K. Rowling.
Every year at Homecoming the group participates in the Student Activities Fair and Cardboard Boat Regatta, and in 2015 held a gathering for current students to meet and get to know Classics alumni.
