Special Events is a unique MPB committee that is responsible for a wide variety of programming on campus. This committee focuses on uniting the Augustana community in various cultural and educational entertainments. Co-chairs are in charge of the performing artists we bring to Augustana College. Past performances include Second City, Diego Val, Salsabrosa, spoken word artists, and singer/ song writers. Co-chairs are in charge of contacting the performers, setting up hospitality, and advertising.
The 2013-2014 Special Events co-chairs are Andy Cordero and Chris Huerta.
Comedy Club offers a laugh-out-loud experience by bringing in the best comedians from around the country. Previous comedians include Paul Varghese, Cristela Alonzo, and Dynamic Duo. In addition, comedy club hosts our own Augustana Last Comic Standing performance where we have student performances. Comedy Club offers a laugh and a smile with each event. Co-Chairs are responsible for all comedians MPB brings to Augustana College. This includes events held in Wilson and Wallenberg. Co-Chairs are in charge of researching and contacting performers, managing their budget, setting up hospitality, and advertising.
The 2013-2014 Comedy Club co-chairs are Jeremy Watson-Freeman and Teddy Hedrick.
Lectures and Leadership
Lectures and leaderships focuses on advertising the Delta series along with hosting a few events especially the lectures dealing with diversity. Co-chairs will hold training sections on various topics throughout the year.
The 2013-2014 Lectures and Leadership co-chairs are Mariana Jacobo and Vanessa Reyes.
The campus outreach co-chairs collaborate with other groups on campus such as homecoming and awareness weeks to help bring culturally diversity among events on campus. In addition, the co-chairs are in charge of hosting honest conversations.
The 2013-2014 Campus Outreach co-chairs are Wendy Guandarrama and Selena Gonzalez.
Independent/ International Film Series
The International and Independent Film series collaborates with Augustana's OSA committee and faculty to select films that meet the goals of their courses and/or programs. This is a great way to encourage faculty involvement with students as well as improving the ability to reach students in another way beyond their courses. Co-chairs will be in charge of hosting and advertising the films on campus.
The 2013-2014 Independent/ International Film Series co-chairs are Ericka Arias and Michelle Bautista.
