Chapel Singers Rehearsal. Anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to come to this rehearsal of the Chapel Singers, who will sing together just once, at the 10:30 a.m. service. Led by Dr. Jon Hurty, director of the Augustana Choir.

Sunday Morning Worship. This service begins the school year and is led by the college chaplains. It is open to everyone and includes special music, Holy Communion, and a sermon by one of the chaplains.

Augie Reads panel (required). A panel of Augustana faculty from a diverse set of academic disciplines will open the conversation about "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin in Centennial Hall. In doing so, they’ll help you think about possible avenues for exploration of the book’s key ideas and issues.

2-3 p.m. 

Augie Reads discussion groups (required). Students will move to classrooms to discuss "The Fire Next Time" with their professors and classmates in the fall-term FYI 101 class.

Campus tour: locating classrooms and important resources (required).

Meet with your peer group at the location designated by your peer mentor

4-4:45 p.m.. 

Our Campus: Our Community Principles (required). This session will serve as the culmination of the Welcome Week program. Join Dean Lawrence and Dean Campbell as they highlight the importance of our student written Community Principles. Students attending will receive the traditional Augustana pin as a symbol of joining the Augustana community.

Black Student Union Back-to-School Barbecue. Everyone is invited to enjoy free food, music and games. Learn about the Black Student Union and what its members do. Stop by the BSU table at the Activities Fair to enter a raffle to win a T-shirt at the BBQ.

Theatre Pizza Mixer. Students interested in being involved in theatre productions onstage or behind the scenes are invited to this informational meeting and pizza party.

Choir Auditions. The auditions will include range testing and singing a familiar song. Students do not need to prepare anything in advance.
