Chapel Singers Rehearsal. Anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to come to this rehearsal of the Chapel Singers, who will sing together just once, at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Ecumenical Worship Service. This service begins the school year and includes special music, Holy Communion and a sermon by College Chaplain Richard Priggie.

Augie Reads panel (required). A panel of Augustana faculty from a diverse set of academic disciplines will open the conversation about "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin in Centennial Hall. In doing so, they’ll help you think about possible avenues for exploration of the book’s key ideas and issues.

2-3 p.m. 

Augie Reads discussion groups (required). Students will move to classrooms to discuss "The Fire Next Time" with their professors and classmates in the fall-term FYI 101 class.

Meet with your peer group at the location designated by your peer mentor

4-4:45 p.m.. 

Our Campus: Our Community Principles (required). This session will serve as the culmination of the Welcome Week program. Join Dean Lawrence and Dean Campbell as they highlight the importance of our student written Community Principles. Students attending will receive the traditional Augustana pin as a symbol of joining the Augustana community.
