Academic Open Houses. Students may attend information sessions for special interests. Look for peer mentors directing students to these events, or ask your own peer mentor in advance about event locations.

Music Department Open House: Students interested in learning about music lessons or ensembles should come to Bergendoff Hall of Fine Arts to set up auditions and lesson times, and talk with faculty. Students interested in singing in a choir should be at Larson Hall (in Bergendoff) at 9 a.m. for an information session.

Theatre Department Open House: Meet faculty and learn about opportunities for participation onstage and behind the scenes. Students should report to the Theatre Arts table outside Room 110, Bergendoff Hall.

Foreign Language Retests: Students who need to retake a foreign language placement exam will be contacted by email. Be sure to check your campus email account for the time and location of any necessary retesting.

9:45-11:45 a.m.

Student Activities Fair (required). Students should meet with their peer groups at a location designated by their peer mentor no later than 9:30 a.m. Peer mentors will accompany the groups to the Student Activities Fair and later to the Faculty-Hosted Picnic.

PepsiCo Recreation Center

Noon-1 p.m.

Faculty-Hosted Picnic (required). Students become acquainted with their first-year advisors in an informal setting. Individual appointments with first-year advisors will be scheduled at this time.

1-4:45 p.m. 

Advising group meetings (required). Students will meet with their first-year advisors for an introduction to the advising process, followed by one-on-one advising meetings.

Locations determined by first-year advisor

1:30-4:45 p.m. 

Afternoon activities/free time. Activities, music, games, refreshments and prizes. Or students may use this time to finish unpacking, organize their rooms or rest. The bookstore is open from 8 a.m.–to 4:30 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday.

5-7 p.m.

Dinner with advising group (required). Students will join their peer mentors for the evening meal. Take a brief break after dinner to dress comfortably for the evening riverboat cruise.

Preacher Moss End of Racism Tour (required).

Board buses to the Celebration Belle Riverboat (required).

9-11:30 p.m. 

Celebration Belle Riverboat Cruise (required). Music, dancing and refreshments on the Mississippi River. Comedian Eric O’Shea will be on board. Buses transport students to the 800-passenger Celebration Belle starting at 8:30 p.m. Buses return to campus at 11 p.m.
