Welcome Augie parents!
Dear parents and family members,
We are looking forward to having you and your student on campus for Orientation & Registration. Not only will this be an opportunity for next year's first-year class to begin getting to know each other, but we hope that you will also enjoy meeting other parents, students and college officials.
In order to prepare for the day's events, I would like to provide the following overview.
For work study, students should bring a photo ID, their social security card or passport, and a completed Immunization form. (See Preparing for Orientation & Registration.)
Students should arrive around 9 a.m in order to check in and complete several tasks. The welcome will take place in the Center for Student Life (CSL) with both parents and students at 10 a.m.
Then students will leave with their peer mentors to begin their transition to college life. Parents and students will not re-connect until the end of the day. We know this can be a tough time for parents as they say good-bye and begin to wonder how their students will do on their own. Please trust us to provide your students with the guidance they need to be successful. The more responsibility they take during Orientation & Registration for decisions, behavior, etc, the easier it will be for them to be successful in the fall.
The Dean of Students will host a series of presentations designed to introduce parents to Augustana's expectations, the resources that are available and what it is like to live and attend classes here. There will be opportunities to meet staff members, ask questions and, perhaps most enjoyable, get to know other parents who have sent or will be sending their students to Augustana. The parent lunch will be held in the CSL dining room for $9. Students will eat free of charge. (See full student and parent schedule)
Finally, please take a look at parent information page. Here you will find information about summer responsibilities, academic life, and campus life. Please let us know if you have any questions, and we look forward to meeting all of you!
