"I am experiencing trouble with the Spanish Placement Test."

Before taking the Spanish Placement Test, you should read the instructions on the web page carefully. You should not take the test more than once; we will record only the first test result. The results you will see at the end of the test are not relevant to Augustana so please disregard them. You will receive your placement results when you come to Orientation & Registration. The Spanish Placement Test instructions include the password you will need to get into the test. You can find these instructions here. If the test stops you within a minute or two, please begin the test again. If you experience any other difficulties with the Spanish Placement Test, email our Orientation & Registration team at orientation@augustana.edu.

"I'm a new first year student (or transfer student) and I want to sign up for Orientation & Registration."

Before you can sign up for an Orientation & Registration date, you need to complete three tasks. You will need your student ID number to complete these steps. It was included in the mailing you received from Admissions. It was also included in an email you received from Admissions at about the same time. With your student ID number handy, new first-year students can begin here. New transfer students can begin here. After you have completed these steps, you will receive an email from orientation@augustana.edu within one week. The email will include a link where you can submit your date preferences for Orientation. You'll receive a confirmation email within one week.

"I've lost or never received the Orientation & Registration packet."

Fortunately, all the information that was in the printed materials can easily be found. Click here to get to the home page of the site. If you have misplaced the mailing that included your student ID number, please check your email; the Admissions office sent you an email including your ID number at about the same time that you received it in the mail. If you cannot locate your ID number, please call Admissions at 309-794-7341.

"I would like to call to tell you my preferred Orientation & Registration date."

Because of the volume of calls and e-mails we receive each day, we have developed a very user-friendly registration process. After completing your placement tests and survey here, you'll receive an email with the link to submit your date preferences for Orientation & Registration.

"I am an international student and cannot take the language placement test."

Please click here to see if you are required to take a language placement test. If you cannot access the internet, please contact Danny Kim Lee (dannykim@augustana.edu or 309-794-8274), and he will be happy to assist you.

"Can you tell me my Orientation & Registration date?"

After you have submitted your preferred dates for Orientation, you will receive a confirmation email from orientation@augustana.edu within one week. But if you have submitted your preferences and a full week has passed, feel free to contact Tara at orientation@augustana.edu or 309-794-8290.

"I want to change my Orientation date"

We will accommodate you on the next available date of your choice as long as we have a spot available. Please e-mail orientation@augustana.edu to request a date change.

"I missed my assigned Orientation date"

We will accommodate you on the next available date of your choice as long as we have a spot available. Please e-mail orientation@augustana.edu to request a new date.

"What time should I arrive on my Orientation & Registration date?"

The starting time for Orientation & Registration events varies. Be sure you check the schedule for your date here to plan ahead.

"I want to bring a friend, in addition to my parents, to Orientation & Registration."

Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend Orientation & Registration. There is a separate program for parents at Orientation & Registration. You can find the parent schedule here. If siblings or friends come along, they will not be able to accompany the student throughout the day; they must remain with parents. We discourage parents from bringing along young children.

"I can't stay for the full day at Orientation & Registration. Can I register for classes earlier in the day?"

Because of the number of students registering at each event, registration rooms and advisors have been assigned ahead of time. With registration scheduled for the end of the Orientation & Registration day, students who must leave early should attend another Orientation & Registration event. You can email orientation@augustana.edu to arrange a new Orientation & Registration date.

"I've studied a language for which you don't offer a placement test. What should I do?"

You should email our orientation team at orientation@augustana.edu. They will talk with you about your options.

"I would like to look at my Fall schedule."

If you have already attended Orientation & Registration and registered for the fall term, you may visit the Augustana Arches system by visiting CampusNet at http://campus.augustana.edu and clicking on the "Arches" bar on the top menu. You were provided your secure log-in information on a form when you came to campus for Orientation. If you have forgotten your password, you should contact the help desk in Information Technology Services (helpdesk@augustana.edu or 309-794-7293).

"I need proof of enrollment (for insurance)."

Only students who are registered for the fall term can get a proof of enrollment form or enrollment verification. You can request enrollment verification through the Arches menu, or contact the Office of the Registrar at (309-794-7277) and one of the staff members will be happy to assist you. This form will not have a class schedule on it, only proof of enrollment. Students who will register in August can obtain a form from the Office of the Registrar once they come to campus.

"I want to change my class schedule."

Please do not make changes to your fall schedule after you leave Orientation & Registration. IArches may allow you to drop a course, but it will not allow you to add a course to replace it. If you mistakenly drop a class on Arches, it may be difficult or impossible to get back into that class. During Welcome Week you will meet with your First Year Advisor. This is your opportunity to adjust your fall schedule.

"I have questions about AP and/or IB credits."

If we have received the official copies of your AP score from the College Board and the score and test are accepted by Augustana (click here to find out what the college accepts), we will post the score on your student record and you can view the credit on your transcript in Arches. If we do not have your official score at the time of registration, we will register you according to the scores you report to us. In this case, if we later receive your scores and they are not high enough to receive credit, we will contact you using your new Augustana e-mail address, and you and your advisor can make any necessary adjustments to your schedule during Welcome Week. If you did not arrange to have scores sent to Augustana, you need to contact College Board and have the official scores sent, as we do not accept hand-delivered transcripts; an official scoring transcript must be received in order for credit to appear on your student record. For information on International Baccalaureate (IB) credits, please click here.

"I have questions about transfer credits."

If we have received official copies of your transcripts from the previous institution, all graded work of "C" or better has been attached to the student record (transcript) and can be viewed on Arches. We only accept official transcripts mailed directly to Augustana from the institution, as federal law prohibits accepting hand-delivered transcripts even if they are in a sealed envelope.  If you have questions, please call the Registrar (309-794-7277).

"I have questions about the summer reading."

You will have an opportunity to purchase your book at Orientation & Registration. Please visit the summer reading link  on this website for questions about the reading. Contact Kristin Douglas (kristindouglas@augustana.edu) via e-mail if you have further questions.

"The summer Orientation & Registration dates are past, and I have not registered for fall classes yet."

If you were unable to join us in June and July for Orientation, you can still sign up for August Orientation on Wednesday, August 17. Once you have completed your placement test and survey here, you'll receive a link to register for this event.

"I need information about Welcome Week."

The full Welcome Week schedule is available on this website. Contact the Office of Student Life and Leadership for more information (309-794-2695).

"When will I find out my housing assignment and who my roommate will be?"

Once you've submitted a housing application form, available here starting May 2, we'll match you with a compatible roommate and email information that includes your housing assignment and roommate contact information by the end of July. More information and important housing dates for new students are on our website. If you have further questions, please contact our Residential Life office at (309) 794-2686.

"I want to cancel my registration and not attend Augustana."

We are very sorry that you will not be able to attend Augustana College in the fall. Please contact the Office of the Registrar (309-794-7277) and we can assist you.
