In 2009, Augustana College partnered with Royal Neighbors of America to launch a pilot program, offering Augustana’s female-led service groups the opportunity to create campus Royal Neighbors chapters. Four years later, Augustana has 13 Royal Neighbors Chapters committed to doing service that empowers women and children.
*What is Royal Neighbors? As one of the largest women-led life insurance organizations, Royal Neighbors of America has empowered women to achieve financial security since 1895. We offer life insurance and financial protection solutions for women and families throughout their lives. From scholarships, financial education, and member benefits, we stand by our members to achieve their goals. As a not-for-profit life insurer, our philanthropic programs also provide opportunities for women and families to give back, connect, and empower others in their communities or affinity groups. Royal Neighbors projects – Throughout the year, each Royal neighbors chapter is committed to participating in or sponsoring at least 12 community service projects. Each spring, our chapters collaborate to partner on an all-chapter project.
2012 all-chapter spring project – St. Joseph the Worker House (transitional living for women and children) clean-up!
2013 all-chapter spring project – Sponsoring and providing over 55 volunteers for Augustana’s partner Elementary school, Longfellow Liberal Arts’ Family Night Luau. Augustana’s volunteer efforts allowed parents to spend time with their children for a night of fun, learning, and school pride.
