Kent Barnds joined the admissions staff after serving as dean of admissions and enrollment management at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. He was attracted to Augustana by the college's reputation for excellent higher education. Augustana is also significant to his family - both his mother and uncle are Augustana graduates.
Kent studied in Seville, Spain during his junior year of college and gained a new appreciation for the country and its culture through the experience. His favorite book, Death in the Afternoon by Ernest Hemingway, brings back reminders of his time abroad.
Through his work with prospective students, Kent hopes to spread the word about Augustana so that "everyone knows about our students who do such fine work in this great community."
