Why are you participating in the "Augustana in Australia" program?

Australia is always one place I have wanted to travel to in my lifetime.  This travel abroad program not only gives you internship experience and real work experience in a career field you are interested in, it gives you this experience in a country all the way around the world. I will get to live and work in culture that I have never experienced before.  I am also extremely excited to enjoy the warm weather of Australia in the middle of our winter season.

What value do you hope to add back to the internship site?

Suggestions for places to visit and things to do while on a budget!  I plan to take a few bigger trips while in Australia but I am certainly on a budget while I am there so the rest of my weekends are going to be spent doing things that are quite inexpensive.  I am also excited to compare Australia life to life in other countries.  I have visited Germany, England, Italy, and Finland and each place was so different than the others and I cant wait to find out what life in Australia is like in comparison.

What do you hope to learn on your internship?

I hope to get some good work experience to give me an idea about what career I would like to pursue after I graduate.  I am a double major but I don not entirely know which direction I want to go with those majors.  I want to learn new skills that I can put on my resume and I especially want to meet new people that would serve as a contact for future employers.

Where do you plan to travel during your term "down under?"

New Zealand, the rainforests up north, and the Great Barrier Reef are my top priorities right now.  If I can, I would also like to see "the outback" and some of the unique wild animals native to Australia.

What do you anticipate to be the highlight of your experience "down under?"

The Great Barrier Reef is probably going to be my favorite while I am there! Also, it is my goal to go bungee jumping while in New Zealand and I am sure that will be an experience I will never forget.
