Major: Communication Studies
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority is a NSW Government agency responsible for Sydney's most historically and culturally significant waterfront locations. Their role is to: Restore, preserve, manage and promote some of Australia's most important heritage buildings and areas. They also run events, and community and education programs. In addition to these they also manage properties, carry out capital works and undertake major projects. The Foreshore Authority is one of the biggest landholders in Sydney, owning just over 400 hectares. It also manages a number of other properties on behalf of the other NSW Government agencies.
Jenna's pre-trip thoughts
Internship: Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority - government owned agency responsible for historically significant buildings and areas as well as many waterfront locations such as Darling Harbour, The Rocks, and The Darling Island.
Why are you participating in the Augustana in Australia program? I am participating in the Augustana in Australia program to gain more internship experience and learn about another culture.
What value do you hope to add back to the internship site? I have helped research, run events, and gain media coverage for previous events and organizations. My academic background is also strong in marketing and management.
What do you hope to learn on your internship? I would like to help manage an event from start to finish, gain networking contacts, and learn and strengthen computer skills.
Where do you plan to travel during your term "down under"? Possibly New Zealand, Fiji, and the Great Barrier Reef.
What do you anticipate to be the highlight of your experience "down under"? I hope to help work Australia Day because the company owns and runs events for Darling Harbour.
Other comments. I hope to learn to transition effectively into the workplace, working Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30 pm and still have a life outside of work.
