New Faculty Programming
The Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning offers a variety of programs to help new faculty become acclimated to Augustana and Quad City communities.
New Faculty Orientation
Our orientation program is designed for all faculty new to the community, whether tenure-track or part-time. It begins during the week before classes start and continues throughout the participants' first year. Orientation provides you with opportunities to learn more about each other, the Augustana students, community and the structure and procedures of the college.
Teaching & Learning Circles
During the year orientation continues with Teaching & Learning Circles (TLCs). We meet approximately once per month to discuss issues related to teaching and learning. Meeting agendas include topics such as reaching the typical Augustana student, improving a course syllabus, evaluating writing assignments, fostering critical thinking, preparing for pre-tenure and tenure evaluation, or discussing case studies.
Individual consultations are available for faculty to discuss classroom pedagogy, student learning strategies, classroom assessment and faculty assessment. Contact Jon Clauss in the Center for Teaching and Learning (Tredway Library - x7260) to make an appointment.
