Programming for New Faculty
The Augustana Center for Faculty Enrichment offers a variety of programs to help new faculty become acclimated to Augustana and Quad City communities.
Our orientation program is designed for all faculty new to the community, whether tenure-track or part-time. It begins during the week before classes start and continues throughout the participants' first year. Orientation provides you with opportunities to learn more about each other, the Augustana students and community, and important resources and advice for teaching at Augie in your first year..
During the year orientation continues with the Mentoring Circle. We meet approximately once per month to discuss issues related to teaching and learning. Meeting agendas include topics such as reaching the typical Augustana student, improving a course syllabus, evaluating writing assignments, fostering critical thinking, preparing for pre-tenure and tenure evaluation, or discussing case studies.
Individual consultations are available for faculty to discuss classroom pedagogy, student learning strategies, classroom assessment, faculty assessment, and strategies for professional productivity and balance. Contact CFE co-directors Brian Katz, Kimberly Murphy and Mike Egan at email@example.com.
