Javier Avila: 'The Trouble with My Name'

Dr. Javier Avila will present his virtual one-man show "The Trouble with My Name." (Trailer)

His appearance is in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage month, and is co-sponsored by several campus groups, including the DEI offices, OSL, Latinx Unidos, Multicultural Programming Board, OSL Leadership Academy, and Greek Council.

Dr. Javier Ávila is the only Latino to be named Pennsylvanias’s Professor of the Year. His best-selling novel "Different" was made into a movie entitled "Miente."

He is the recipient of the Cultural Arts Award given by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, and numerous literary awards, including the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture Poetry Award and the Pen Club Book of the Year Award.

His books include the novels "The Professor in Ruins," "The Oldest Profession," "Polvo," and several poetry collections.
