Figge Art Museum excursion

Augustana students, faculty and staff are invited to free admission and activities to celebrate the Figge Art Museum's exhibition, "French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950."

Events will run from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Davenport museum.

The Office of Student Life will offer free transportation to the museum. Buses will leave from the Gerber Center at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The last bus to return to the college from the Figge will leave at 3 p.m.

At 1 p.m., Dr. Randall Hall, saxophonist and Augustana associate professor of music, will give a presentation on French modern music.

There will be self-guided art activities in the Figge studios from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Refreshments will be available in the Community Gallery and docents will be available for tours from 11 am.-12:30 p.m.

The exhibition features 60 works of art from the Brooklyn Museum of Art's renowned European collection. It includes pieces by Monet, Cezanne, Chagall, Renoir, Matisse, Morisot and many others. The exhibit will run through Jan. 6.
