Audrey Adamson Audrey Adamson, B.A., M.S.Ed.

On July 1, 2011 Audrey began her new role as the Interim Director of Residential Life after previously serving as an Assistant Director. A 1997 graduate of Augustana College (Biology), Audrey served three years on our student staff as a Resident Assistant and Assistant Residence Hall Director. Eager to join the Residential Life team on a professional level, Audrey was hired after graduation as the Residence Director for Seminary Hall.  She would later move to Erickson Hall before providing leadership to the Transitional Living Areas as an Area Coordinator.  During this time, she completed her post-graduate degree in Counselor Education at Western Illinois University. In the spring of 2010, Audrey was named as an Assistant Director, primarily overseeing judicial proceedings and other administrative duties in the central office. Audrey hails from Davenport, Iowa but is currently a Rock Island resident. She is married to Jim Adamson, who is also an Augustana alumnus. They have a daughter, Tori, and a son, Grant.

Prior to coming to Augustana, Kelly served as Head Resident Advisor at Oral Roberts University where she graduated with a major in Marketing in 1989. Soon thereafter, she was employed as Employment Manager at MACY's in Houston, Texas.   Kelly joined the Augustana College Office of Residential Life team in 2002 as student and summer housing coordinator.  Since then she's assumed many additional administrative duties within the department.  In 2005, she became the college's Coordinator of Medical Support Services, providing support to students and parents regarding medically-related issues.  Michigan is Kelly's home turf; she is married to Grey Giovanine, Augustana's head men's basketball and golf coach, and has three sons, Grey, Reid, and Luke.

Iowa born and bred, Steven came to us in 2008 after graduating from Coe College where he majored in Elementary Education. Steven was well-experienced, having served three years in a student capacity as a Resident Assistant and Assistant Residence Director. During his first two years on campus Steven was assigned to the Residence Director position at Westerlin Residence Center.  In 2010 Steven transitioned into the role of Area Coordinator as his duties expanded to include Transitional Living Areas West. Beginning this fall, Steven will serve as the Assistant to the Director of Residential Life, primarily working with students regarding conduct issues, as well as helping out around the central office.  Steven is also currently working toward completing a post-graduate degree in Student Affairs Administration through the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He and his wife, Kelsey, welcomed son, Deacon, in August 2010.

Renea started her career at Augustana in 1992 and ever since has been an indispensible part of the Residential Life team. Prior to Augustana, she worked at the State Bank of Seaton in Seaton, Illinois.  Renea and her husband Ed live in Seaton, Illinois, and have three children: Toni, Evan, and Joni (Evan and Joni are Augustana alums). They are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.

 

Area Coordinator Staff

Area Coordinators (ACs) are full-time, professionally trained staff members who manage an assigned residential area. They supervise staff, advise student groups, coordinate building programming, and address behavioral issues.

Area Coordinator for Erikson and TLA East (TLA East Houses)

Zach is also an Augustana alumnus, graduating in 2005 with a degree in History. Immediately after graduation, he served as an Assistant Language Teacher in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. When he returned stateside in 2006, he was offered a Residence Director position at Augustana, starting in Seminary Hall and later moving to Erickson Residence Center in the fall of 2008. Starting in 2010, his duties will expand to include Transitional Living Areas East. Zach previously served on the Augustana Residential Life team as a Community Adviser from 2002-2005. He is married to another Augustana alumnus, Laura (Treasurer) Berkley and has two sons, Jacob and Lucas. Zach is currently working on a post-graduate degree in Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His hometown is Belvidere, Illinois.

Jillian hails from Saint Charles, IL and is another Augustana alumnus who elected to continue with the Office of Residential Life. She graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in English and attended Denver Publishing Institute the summer after graduating. After a brief stint in book publishing, Jillian happily returned to Augustana to work as a Residence Director in 2008, starting out in Seminary Hall.  As of the 2010-2011 academic year, she is the Area Coordinator for the three halls on lower campus: Andreen, Seminary, and Swanson Commons. Jillian is also working on a post-graduate degree in Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


Area Coordinator for Westerlin and TLA West (TLA West Houses)

Kara joined the Residential Life staff as the Area Coordinator for Westerlin and Transitional Living Areas West in the summer of 2011.  Originally from Frankfort, Indiana, Kara attended Defiance College (OH) where she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Arts and Humanities.  She would go on to attend Indiana State University where she completed her Masters of Science in Student Affairs and Higher Education in the spring of 2011.   


Student Staff

Assistant Residence Directors (ARDs) are undergraduate students with CA experience. They supervise the service desk operation, co-advise their respective hall council, and work with ACs to manage the assigned building(s).
Community Advisors (CAs) are full-time undergraduate students who provide residents with day-to-day living assistance. CA's are located on each residence hall floor and in the Transitional Living Areas. They are trained to offer campus information, referral suggestions, peer counseling, and floor activity coordination. They are our community catalysts, generally assisting any resident in need and helping residents learn to live together successfully. We encourage you to contact them with questions and any residentially-related needs.  Email is our preferred method, but also feel free to contact our Central Office at (309) 794-2686 if a staff member is not available.
