Steve joined the admissions staff after serving the Augustana community as campus staff for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. After moving to the Quad Cities in 2005, he quickly fell in love with the Augustana community and campus. He was struck by the strength of heart, mind, and character of the students, the beauty of the campus, and the vast array of opportunities the school presents. His own life radically impacted by a liberal arts education, Steve delights in exposing students to new ideas, new concepts, and new possibilities. He also relishes some family history here, as members of his family have graduated from both the college and the former seminary.
In his free time, Steve enjoys playing with his kids, music, and all things related to the Beatles and the Philadelphia Phillies. When his kids give him a small break, he enjoys reading books in religion and philosophy, including authors such as William Lane Craig and N.T. Wright. Now that his wife has gotten him addicted to The Office, Steve strives to live out a little bit of Michael Scott every day: "The most sacred thing I do is care."
