The Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing is the on-campus internship site for undergraduate students majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Faculty and student interns provide assessment and intervention services to people with a variety of speech, language, and hearing disorders.

The center offers both speech and language and audiology services.

The center is in Augustana's Brodahl Building, 851 34th St., Rock Island. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building.

Speech and language services

Services offered include assessment and intervention for speech, language, fluency, tongue thrust, voice disorders, and dialect variations. In addition, intervention for language-based reading disabilities is provided. Both individual and group sessions are available.

Assessment services are provided by academic and clinical faculty members, all of whom possess master's or doctoral degrees in speech-language pathology, hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and maintain a State of Illinois license in speech-language pathology.

The majority of intervention is provided by juniors and seniors majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders under the supervision of faculty. Intervention also can be provided by faculty members.

Assessment and intervention services are obtained through self-referral or referral from a physician or another professional.

For an individual session the cost is $295 per term for supervised student clinicians and $570 per term for clinical faculty members. For a group session the cost is $160 per term for supervised student clinicians. Three terms are offered during the school year. A term includes eight hours of intervention plus a final conference.

Assessment services are provided by academic and clinical faculty members. Please call the clinic coordinator, Karen Sheraden at (309) 794-7350 for assessment cost. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

A six-week summer program is provided by clinical faculty. If you have questions or desire additional information, you may contact the clinic coordinator, Karen Sheraden, (309) 794-7350, or the center director, Allison Haskill at (309) 794-7388.
