Center for the Study of Ethics sponsors Earth Week presentation on the ethics of climate change

Rock Island, Ill. - The Augustana College Center for the Study of Ethics will host a presentation on the ethical responsibilities of citizens to address climate change this Thursday. Dr. Jennifer Burnham, assistance professor of geography at Augustana College, will present "Climate Change: A Global Ethical Responsibility" at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in room 102 of the Augustana Science Building. With sponsorship from the Augustana College Center for the Study of Ethics, the presentation is open to the public, free of charge.

Burnham will discuss the science behind climate change and address common misconceptions about climate issues. Her talk will also explore whether citizens have an ethical responsibility to do something about climate change. The presentation is one of several events planned as part of the college's celebration of Earth Week. (For more information, see the web site of the Global Affect student organization.)

The Augustana College Center for the Study of Ethics was established to enrich teaching and learning experiences for Augustana students and faculty by providing greater opportunities for them to meet and interact with community leaders. The Center encourages discussion of issues of ethical significance through campus programs and community outreach.
