Student Profile: Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP)
To help us understand the characteristics and needs of entering students, Augustana participates in a national survey of first-year students given during college orientation. The survey explores students intellectual and career interests, political and social attitudes and reasons for attending college, among other things. This year's findings include:

The level of financial assistance was also important to about 68% of our students, as was the small college size, 60%.
- 86% of our entering students plan to go on to earn a masters degree or doctorate.
- 58% of our matriculants indicated a probably pre-professional major ( professional, business, education , engineering, technical).
- Very important life objectives or entering students include raising a family, 81%, and helping others in difficulty, 70%.
