Augustana Student Photo Bureau joins student musicians and comedians for January 25 Final Friday

Rock Island, Ill. - The photography, music and live comedy of students from Augustana College will highlight "Augustana Sights and Sounds," a MidCoast Fine Arts Final Friday event scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 25 at Bucktown Center (225 E. 2nd Street, Davenport). Coordinated by the Augustana Student Photo Bureau, the event will feature photography that showcases the college's picturesque buildings and grounds as well as aspects of student life on campus, in the community and around the world.

Entertainment will be provided by musicians from Augustana as well as HeyWire, the college's improvisational comedy troupe. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

The Augustana Photo Bureau was established in 2005 to assist the college's Office of Communication and Marketing in providing photos for use in college publications. Marla Alvarado Neuerburg, photographer and publications coordinator at Augustana College, serves as the group's advisor. Ashley Biess, a junior majoring in marketing from Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, has helped coordinate the Final Friday event.

"The Quad Cities offers students a safe and exciting community to mature and expand their education," said Biess. "We're looking forward to giving something back by sharing our experiences with local alumni and residents of the Quad Cities."

Members of the Augustana Student Photo Bureau have compiled a series of photographs to characterize life at Augustana College. The exhibit includes photos taken on campus, in the community and on international study terms. Nine of the bureau's photographers' work will be displayed amongst the artwork of the Bucktown resident artists as several Bucktown gallery owners will display student artwork in addition to hosting music and comedy groups.

The following student photographers will be featured: Ashley Biess '09, Ian Fletcher '09, Dan Hadley '08, Kelly Morgan '09, Matthew Peters '11, Amy Pearson '09, Kaitlin Sirois '10, Steve Quinlan '09 and Jessica Shepard '09.
