How does it work?

All food is presented on an à la carte basis. You select only what you want, "paying" for your choices by presenting the cashier with your magnetically encoded ID/debit card. The system is similar to a bank account withdrawal in that with each transaction the amount of the purchase is deducted from your student debit account.

What are the costs?

All food items are priced at the approximate cost to Augustana. The different meal plans, and their costs, can be found on the meal plans page.

Refunds/additions to student debit account

At the end of each term, any food credit remaining is automatically transferred to the next term. If you have food dollars remaining in your account at the end of the year, you will then receive a credit toward any outstanding balance on campus or a rebate check for the unused portion. If you use up your full meal plan before the end of the term, you may add to your student debit account in $10 increments (cash or check only). If your balance reaches $20, you will be notified that you may want to add funds to your student debit account. This may be done in the Food Service Office weekdays from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Lost/stolen meal cards

Augustana College is not responsible for loss, theft or misuse of your ID card. A lost or stolen card should be reported immediately to either the Food Service Office or in person to any open food service location. You may purchase a new ID card in the Food Service Office.

Care of your ID/debit card

Your card is as valuable as cash or a credit card. Keep it secured and with you at all times. If your card is damaged and no longer readable by the scanner, it must be replaced. Cards exhibiting normal wear and tear are replaced for free; there will be a $15 fee for cards replaced as a result of misuse or abuse.
