Greek Life

Greek Life has a long history at Augustana College, rich with tradition, providing students with valuable opportunities to experience personal growth and development. Leadership, service and academic success are the cornerstones of Augustana's Greek community. There is no doubt that membership in one of Augustana's 13 Greek letter organizations enhances the college experience. Joining a fraternity or sorority not only cultivates life-long friendships through social interaction and a "family" away from home, but also instills high standards and a sense of value to the lives our students lead. For more information on Greek life feel free to contact the current Greek Council President Timothy Lainhart through his e-mail timothy-lainhart@augustana.edu.

Joining a Greek Organization

Joining a fraternity or sorority will provide you with great opportunities to get involved during your college years. Greek Life at Augustana is multi-faceted; there is something in it for everyone:

Leadership and Involvement: Greeks have an organized committee structure which offers their members a unique opportunity to get practical and applicable leadership experience.

Scholarship: Academic success goes hand in hand with extracurricular success. Each chapter has a Scholarship Chair who is responsible for emphasizing academic achievement within the chapter.

Social: The Greek Community organizes and sponsors several social events and activities throughout the year. The development of a social network is one of the many ways Greek members create lifelong friendships within their own chapters and within other groups.

Intramurals: Augustana's Greek Community is proud to be a major part of intramural activities. Greek participants compete intensely while developing physical skills, practicing good sportsmanship and working as a team.

Philanthropy: Augustana's Greek Community performs thousands of hours of service each academic year. Whether the task is cleaning up trash, visiting a nursing home or tutoring children, Greeks are always willing to help out.
