The Second City brings 50 years of funny to Augustana

Augustana will host the leading brand in improv-based sketch comedy, The Second City, in Happily Ever Laughter on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall (3703 7th Ave., Rock Island).

Known as “A Comedy Empire” by The New York Times, The Second City pulls out classic material from its archives as well as scenes ripped from the morning headlines to create The Second City’s Happily Ever Laughter. The audiences will have a chance to see comedy stars in the making, and also absolutely hilarious satire and cutting edge improvisation.
The Second City continues to produce the leading voices in adult comedy while touring the globe. It is celebrated for delivering premier comic talent in the industry, and its long list of famed alumni include Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Tina Fey, and countless others.
General public tickets cost $10. Tickets are available at the Augustana Ticket Office, 3703 7th Ave., Rock Island, during regular business hours, or they can be charged by phone at (309) 794-7306. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.augustana.edu/tickets. Tickets for Augustana faculty/staff and Augustana students free by showing an I.D. at the door.
