Women's soccer tackles tough schedule once again

A year ago the Vikings had plenty to celebrate with a 16-5 overall record, an undefeated CCIW championship and a trip to the NCAA Division III national tournament. The 2013 schedule will once again be a challenging one for Augustana and veteran head coach Scott Mejia.

One year ago Augustana captured the 2012 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's soccer title with an undefeated 7-0 record. The Vikings of veteran head coach Scott Mejia finished the year with a 16-5 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament for the fifth time in the last eight seasons.

The 2013 schedule has been released and once again the Vikings will be tackling some top-tier programs. There will be seven CCIW matches and games against Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wisconsin-Whitewater from the powerful Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Loras, Simpson and Wartburg from the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will also be on the non-conference slate as will Milwaukee School of Engineering and Concordia-Moorhead, both of whom dealt Mejia's team at home last year.

The 2013 schedule is as follows. All home matches will be played at Thorson-Lucken Field.
