Scholarships

Presidential Scholarship  $13,500 to $15,000 -These awards are reserved for academically superior students. To be considered, eligible students typically rank in the top ten percent of their high school class. Students must have demonstrated exemplary academic performance in a challenging academic program, as well as outstanding out-of-classroom involvement, good character and citizenship. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Renewal requires full-time enrollment and a cumulative Augustana GPA of 3.0.

Dean's Scholarship  $10,500-$11,500 -These awards are reserved for academically superior students. To be considered, eligible students typically rank in the top 20 percent of their high school class. Students must have demonstrated exemplary academic performance in a challenging academic program, as well as outstanding out-of-classroom involvement, good character and citizenship. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Renewal requires full-time enrollment and a cumulative Augustana GPA of 2.75.

Founders Scholarship  $5,000-$9,500- These scholarships are competitive and are awarded to students whose high school course selection has been challenging, whose academic performance is excellent, and who have made significant achievements and contributions to their high school and community. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Renewal requires full-time enrollment and a cumulative Augustana GPA of 2.5.

Transfer Scholarship  $4,500-$7,500- Awarded to selected students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in their previous college studies. Renewal requires a 3.0 Augustana cumulative grade-point average, depending on the award amount. Travel Scholarship - $2,000 award ($500 per year for four years) for students who live outside of Illinois and have shown interest in Augustana College by attending one of our visit days or a personal admissions interview. Art Scholarship  Up to $2,000- Awarded to selected students after review of their portfolios. Renewal based on recommendation of the Art Department. Portfolio review dates for scholarships can be found by clicking here.

Debate Scholarship Up to $2,000- Awarded to students based on their proficiency in debate as recommended by the Department of Speech Communication. For more information on Debate Scholarships, click here.

Honors Music Scholarships   Up to $5,000 (anually) -The Deisenroth Music Scholarship ($4,500 anually) and Morgan Music Scholarship ($5,000 anually), are each awarded to one new student who need not be a music major, based on a music audition. The Nels and Emma Swanson Voice Scholarship awards  $5,000 annually to two students studying voice. Music honors scholarships award $4,000 to three talented students. The Augustana music scholarships award $500 - $4,000 to talented students, including non-majors, based on auditions. General Music Scholarships   Up to $4,000- General music scholarships award up to $4,000 annually to talented students, including non-majors, based on music auditions. Carl B. Nelson Music Education Scholarship $5,000- Awarded annually to a first-year student planning to major in music education. Renewal is based on recommendation of the Department of Music. You may complete a music scholarship application online by clicking here.

Naeseth Writing Scholarship  Up to $1,000- Available to first-year students who show promise as writers and intend to major in English. Applicants should submit three pieces of original writing to the Department of English. Contact the Admissions Office for an application.

Theatre Scholarship  Up to $4,000- The Judith Katz Memorial Theatre Scholarship is a $4000 award, renewable for four years. Please contact the Department of Theatre Arts for more details. Other theatre scholarships are available up to $2,500, and are awarded to exceptional individuals pursuing performance, technical theatre, dance, playwriting or criticism. Alumni Scholarship  $1,000- Given to students whose parent(s) are alumnae/alumni of Augustana College.

Augustana Lutheran Award   Up to $1,000- Eligible Lutheran students will receive up to $1,000 per academic year for four years. Students receiving $1,000 or more in gift assistance from any other source (state, federal or Augustana aid programs) are not eligible for this award. To be considered for the scholarship, the student's pastor must send a letter to the Office of Financial Assistance prior to June 1 indicating the student is a member in good standing in the church.

Rissing Scholarship   Up to $5,000- Awarded each year to students who wish to prepare for professional leadership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Award is renewable by maintaining a 2.5 Augustana cumulative grade-point average.

Endowed Scholarships   Amount varies- These scholarships are made possible by friends of the College. The Office of Financial Assistance will advise you of any for which you qualify.
