Earth Week: town hall, music, work and worship

This year Earth Week kicks off with an Environmental Town Hall Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Hanson 102.

Members of the Campus Sustainability Committee, administrators and facilities staff will be listening to a discussion of environmental practices.

Students, faculty, administrators, and staff are all invited. For more information, contact Dr. Laura Hartman.

In addition, the student group Global Affect will present the following events April 15-21:

Tuesday: Global Affect and the Darwin Club will pull invasive species around campus (weather permitting). Volunteers are needed.

Wednesday: Volunteers are needed to clean up the Slough at 6 p.m. Gloves and waders will be provided. There also will be a special worship service in Ascension Chapel at 9:30 p.m.

Thursday: Patchouli will perform a concert at 4 p.m. in the Quad. Rain location: Olin Auditorium.

Friday: There will be an Earth Week craft and T-shirt table in the College Center during lunch hours.

Saturday: The campus community is invited to help plant Augie Acres at 9 a.m. The garden is at 6th Ave. and 34th St., Rock Island. 

Sunday: There will be an Earth-themed worship in Ascension Chapel at 10:30 a.m. At 6 p.m. there will be a movie about climate change called “Do the Math” showing in Olin.
