Davis wins CCIW "Player of the Week" honors

Augustana sophomore pitcher Seth Davis (J.K. Mullen HS, Aurora, Co.) was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball "Player of the Week."
Davis, a lefthander, went the distance in a pitcher's duel over Wisconsin-Platteville on March 23. The Vikings walked away with a 1-0 win as Davis gave up only two hits and struck out nine, allowing no walks. The win improved Davis' ERA to 1.25 as he moved to a perfect 3-0 on the season. In his team leading 28.2 innings pitched, Davis has fanned 35 batters and allowed only 14 hits. This was his second shutout of the year, as the other came against Greenville on March 15 in which Davis allowed only one hit and struck out 12 batters in seven innings.
As a freshman last season, Davis finished with a 3.51 ERA and a record of 3-2. In 48.2 innings pitched, which was the third highest on the team, he recorded 50 strike outs.
Davis, a business administration major, is the son of Curtis and Laura Gonzales-Davis of Aurora, Colorado.
