How to Apply

If you are applying as a first-year or transfer student, your application to Augustana College will be complete once you submit the following items to the Office of Admissions.

(If you have been previously enrolled at Augustana and are re-applying, are considering enrolling to take classes as a part-time student, are a non-degree student, possess a bachelor's degree and are interested in pursuing teaching certification, or are applying for summer school disregard the following instructions and print and return our Special Student Application.)

1. Common Application and Augustana College supplement. We encourage you to use the online Common Application and the Augustana College supplement.

If you would like to download PDF versions of the Common Application (514 KB) and Augustana College supplement (249 KB), you can fill them in electronically or by hand.  Mail the forms to the Augustana College Office of Admissions.

If you would like a paper version of the Common Application and supplement mailed to you, call the Augustana College Office of Admissions at (800)798-8100 or (300)794-7341.

2. School report and recommendations. If you are a first-year student applicant, please take the school report form found in the Common Application to your guidance office for completion. Return the school report and one letter of recommendation from a teacher to the Augustana College Office of Admissions.

Transfer applicants, in place of the school report and teacher recommendation, may submit two letters from professors/teachers or employers.

Home-schooled applicants, in place of the school report and teacher recommendation, may submit two letters from adults who know you well, other than parents.

3. Official high school transcripts. Submit your official high school transcript to the Augustana College Office of Admissions. It should include a cumulative GPA and rank in class (if available).

Transfer applicants must submit a final high school transcript as well as official transcripts from all previous college work.

4. Standardized test scores. All first-year student applicants may submit scores from either the ACT or SAT. (Augustana College does not prefer one test over the other, and will consider the highest composite score.) We will accept the scores as they appear on your official high school transcript; otherwise, the ACT or SAT testing organization can send your scores directly to Augustana.  Students can also elect to apply Test-Optional, without submitting their standardized test scores.

International students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Transfer applicants with at least 12 transferable hours of credit need not submit standardized test scores.

5. Writing sample. All applicants must submit examples of their writing. See the Common Application for details.
