KENOSHA, Wis. & STEVENS POINT, Wis. - In the final weekend before the NCAA Division III national meet, several members of the Augustana women's track & field team competed in a pair of "last chance" qualifying meets. Junior Liana Beauchamp (Genoa-Kingston HS, Kingston, Ill.) made the biggest splash for the Vikings by breaking her own school record in the weight throw.

Beauchamp finished second in the 20 pound weight throw at the Gill Athletics Final Qualifier on Friday, March 1 in Kenosha, Wisconsin with a toss of 53' 10" (16.41 meters). She broke her own school record of 53' 9 ¼" set just one week earlier at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship, which was also held in Kenosha. She finished second in the event on Friday, losing only to the 16.60 meter toss by Sarah Drozdowski of NCAA Division I Valparaiso.

Junior Kierra Smith (Creston HS, Creston, Iowa) won the 400 with a time of 1:00.14, which is tied for the fifth fastest indoor time in Augustana history with Carey Bartz. Bartz ran the same time back in 1988.
