Beauchamp & distance medley second in CCIW

Junior Liana Beauchamp placed second in the weight throw at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship on Friday, February 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She recorded a toss of 53' 9 1/4.

KENOSHA, Wis. - Junior Lianna Beauchamp (Genoa-Kingston HS, Kingston, Ill.) and the distance medley relay team all recorded runner-up finishes for Augustana in the first day of competition at the 2013 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin indoor track & field championships. The Vikings are currently in fourth place with 34 points in the two-day event, which is being held at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Illinois Wesleyan leads with 67 points while North Central is in second with 58. Carthage (38) and Augustana (34) are locked into a battle for third while Millikin (22), Wheaton (10), Elmhurst (3) and North Park (2) round out the field.  

Beauchamp placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 53' 9 ¼" while the distance medley team of junior Kate Benge (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), junior Kierra Smith (Creston HS, Creston, Iowa), junior Kristyn Barton (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) and sophomore Jessica Bacon (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) was also second in 12:20.93.  

Senior Sarahbeth Jones (Warren Township HS, Wadsworth, Ill.) ran 18:01.26 to place third in the 5000 while sophomore teammate Lizzie Lundine (Willowbrook HS, Villa Park, Ill.) was seventh in the same event with a time of 18:51.40.  

Junior Taelar Hillyer (Rock Island Alleman HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) placed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 11' 2 ¼" and senior Taylor Tjardes (Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley HS, Gibson City, Ill.) was eighth with a height of 9' 2 ½". Sophomore Astin Moravek (Riverside-Brookfield HS, Riverside, Ill.) finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 16' 11 ½".
