Associate Dean of Curriculum and Engagement
Augustana College invites applications for an Associate Dean of Curriculum and Engagement. The Associate Dean of Curriculum and Engagement (ADCE) is responsible for providing leadership that strengthens all curricular programs, ensures high quality content and skill development in these programs, and oversees assessment of student learning outcomes. Duties include providing administrative oversight for in-class and out-of-class curricular initiatives, including the college's distinctive program Augie Choice, which provides every student with a $2,000 stipend to ensure a peak learning experience. Specifically, the ADCE dean is responsible for ensuring that all experiential learning opportunities are thoughtfully integrated into the Augustana curriculum and are consistent with our articulated student learning outcomes. Expected start date is July 1, 2013.
Other administrative responsibilities include directing summer term and The Augustana College Summer Academy (pre-college program for high school students), overseeing departmental budgets and assisting with the 2014-15 Higher Learning Commission accreditation preparation and visit, as well as generally supporting the Office of Academic Affairs in furthering the mission of the college as directed by the Dean of the College.
The ADCE serves as the Office of Academic Affairs representative on the Education Policies, General Education, Assessment for Improvement, and Convocation Committees.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. (or terminal degree in a scholarly field); strong credentials as a teacher and scholar; three years minimum administrative experience in a similar organizational setting; an understanding of and commitment to liberal arts education; a track record of successfully partnering with diverse stakeholders, and a transparent and team-based management style that honors the tradition of shared governance.
