Vikings stay in top 25 after losses to two ranked teams

After dropping back-to-back road games to ranked opponents last week, Augustana still stayed in the top 25 in the NCAA Division III national poll. The Vikings will host 20th ranked Wheaton on Wednesday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carver Center, where they have fashioned a 6-0 record this season.

Dropping a pair of road games to nationally ranked opponents last week didn't hurt Augustana too much in the NCAA Division III national poll. The Vikings were 17th a week ago with a 12-1 overall record but losses at 18th Illinois Wesleyan and number five North Central moved that record to 12-3.

However, Augustana only fell to 23rd in the D3hoops.com poll with 68 points. The Vikings will get another shot at a top 25 opponent when 20th ranked Wheaton comes to the Carver Center on Wednesday, January 16 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

So far this year the Vikings' only losses have come to ranked opponents on the road.  Augustana fell at seventh ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point 67-59 on December 8 and then the two losses to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opponents Illinois Wesleyan (18th) and North Central (5th) last week.
