International Food Festival set for Feb. 2

The Augustana College Office of International Programs will celebrate cultural diversity through cuisine at the International Food Festival on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the College Center (3703 7th Ave.) dining room.
Now in its 11th year, the festival attracts more than 500 guests who enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet of dishes from around the world. Tickets sell out quickly.
“The event celebrates the global diversity of our students and faculty,” said Jane Tiedge, coordinator of international student services. “Food is a wonderful way to bring people together. It unites us all. Everybody loves food.”
Tiedge and other festival organizers, including Augustana dining services staff, chose 45 recipes from the home regions of Augustana’s international students. This year, these students represent more than 20 countries.
The regions represented on this year’s menu are East Asia, Africa, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Latin America and the United States. In honor of Augustana’s Swedish roots, rice pudding with lingonberries will be one of the dessert options.
