Women's swimming drills Monmouth 159-77

The Vikings had plenty to cheer about Friday night as they defeated Monmouth 159-77 in the Carver Pool. Augustana won a total of nine events in its first dual meet of the season.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Senior Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) and junior Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) each won two individual events as Augustana defeated Monmouth 159-77 on Friday, November 16 in the Carver Pool. The Vikings were impressive in their first dual meet competition on the 2012-13 season, claiming a total of nine events, including both relays.

Regnier won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.01 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.33. For good measure she also threw in a second place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:20.84. Myers took the one meter diving competition with a score of 222.10 and the three meter with a 224.25 point total.

Other individual wins came from senior Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.), junior Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) and freshman Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.).

Clennon won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.61 and placed third in the 500 freestyle at 5:42.71. She also handled the second leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay unit that included senior Alexandra Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.), Novak and Ferguson. That quartet recorded a time of 1:30.47. Ferguson sprinted to a time of :25.93 in winning the 50 freestyle and was second in the 100 freestyle in :57.39. Novak's win came in the 200 individual medley at 2:18.79. She was second in the 100 butterfly, just behind Regnier, with a time of 1:03.48.

The Vikings of head coach Scott Johannsen started the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of senior Hollyann Kabbe (Fenton HS, Bensenville, Ill.), freshman Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.), junior Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) and junior Katie Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) clocked 2:05.99.

Piper took second in the 50 freestyle in: 26.31and third in the 100 freestyle in :57.91. Johnson placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.79 and Pittman added a fifth in the 200 freestyle in 2:21.21. Kabbe was fifth in the 100 backstroke at 1:11.64 and Doty placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:41.52) and third in the 1000 freestyle (11:56.58).

Senior Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle (11:50.42) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:26.52).

Freshman Kristin Molloy (Buffalo Grove HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.) was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.53. Junior Danna Jensen (Dundee-Crown HS, Algonquin, Ill.) finished fourth in both the 1000 freestyle (13:04.41) and the 100 freestyle (1:02.96). Sophomore Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) took third in the 200 freestyle in 2:13.52. Sophomore Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) was fourth in the 50 freestyle in :27.54. Sophomore Alexis Thompson (Crystal Lake HS, Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.) placed fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:17.77). Sophomore Mackenzie Corrie (Midland HS, Charleston, Ill.) was fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.19.

Freshman Adelia Clark (Linn-Mar HS, Marion, Iowa) was second in the one meter diving (201.00) and three meter diving (154.05). Freshman Megan McGregor (Lincoln-Way East HS, Mokena, Ill.) took third off the three meter board (130.70) and fourth on the one meter (155.10).
