Frieze Lecture: A Postcolonial Love Affair with Dickens

Dr. Umme Al-wazedi, assistant professor of English, presented the fourth and final edition of the 2012 Frieze Lectures at the Rock Island Library on Nov. 13. The theme for the 15th annual lecture series — in the bicentennial year of Dickens' the birth — was "What the Dickens?" Dr. Al-wazedi offers a post-colonial view of Dickens, and considers how his place in literature has changed.
