Pittman leads way at NCC Invite

Junior Katie Pittman led the Augustana effort at the North Central Invitational on Thursday, November 1 with a 14th place finish in a time of 18:47.

WINFIELD, Ill. - Junior Katie Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Seymour, Ill.) led the way for Augustana at the North Central Invitational in women's cross country on Thursday, November 1 at St. James Farm in Winfield, Illinois. Pittman was the top Vikings' finisher in the three mile race, taking 14th with a time of 18:47 as the team placed fourth in the standings.

The winner of the race individually was Annie Shults of Wheaton who covered the three-mile layout in 17:50.42. North Central won the team title with 22 points while Washington was second with 49 and Wheaton took third with 77. Augustana was fourth with 97 points.

Sophomore Stephanie Burbidge (Palatine HS, Palatine, Ill.) was the second Viking across the line as she took 19th in 18:53.36. Junior Kristen Whiteside (Zion-Benton HS, Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) placed 27th in 19:02.65. Senior Amanda Rodriguez (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) was 29th in 19:18.70 and her freshman sister Rachel Rodriguez (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) finished 30th in 19:18.95. Senior Theresa Coverick (Stagg HS, Palos Park, Ill.) was 31st in 19:25.80 with senior Jennifer Prazak (Naperville North HS, Naperville, Ill.) taking 36th in 19:40.98.

Augustana will compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on Saturday, November 11 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
