Vikings now 16th in NCAA national poll

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — After finishing sixth at the highly competitive Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on October 13 th, the Augustana men’s cross country team fell three spots in the NCAA Division III national rankings. The Vikings of veteran head coach Paul Olsen fell from 13 th to 16 th in the latest poll.
Haverford is now the top rated team in the polls after North Central was beaten by Calvin at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh invitational. Calvin moved up to second with North Central falling to third. Bates and SUNY Geneseo held steady in fourth and fifth respectively. Wisconsin-La Crosse moved up one spot, to sixth, as did Tufts, now ranked seventh. Wisconsin-Eau Claire made the biggest jump in the polls moving from 25 th all the way up to eighth. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is now ranked ninth and Washington (Mo.) rounds out the top ten.
As has been the case all season, the Midwest Region is a dominant force in the national rankings, which are conducted by the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association. For the fourth consecutive week, seven teams from the Midwest are in the top 20 nationally. North Central is the top ranked Midwest Region team coming in third in the national poll with 264 points. Wisconsin-La Crosse (6 th – 240), Wisconsin- Eau Claire (8 th – 218), Washington (10 th – 206), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (14 th – 176), Augustana (16 th – 161), and Wisconsin-Platteville (20 th – 122) are all in the top 20 from the Midwest Region.
