Ground broken for Knowlton Complex
Knowlton Complex in the news |
New artistic renderings of the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex were unveiled Thursday at a groundbreaking ceremony in the northwest corner of the Augustana football field, which will be the site. The Knowlton Complex also will include the Charles D. Lindberg Stadium, the Ken Anderson Academic All-America Club and the Players' Plaza and Viking Patio and Overlook.
Construction is to begin next month. It is scheduled to open for Augustana's 2013 season.
The complex is named for late Ohio businessman and philanthropist Austin E. Knowlton, who founded the Knowlton Foundation and funded it in his lifetime and through a provision in his will. Lindberg Stadium will be on the north side of the complex (where visitors' stand is now). The original facility on the south side of the field will become the visitors' section.
