MTV award-winner Andy Grammer to perform
September 24, 2012
Singer and songwriter Andy Grammer will perform at Augustana on Friday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall (3703 7th Ave.). The event is open to the public.
Well-known for his first single, “Keep Your Head Up,” Grammer began his career as a street performer in Santa Monica, Calif., with his car battery-powered amplifier and acoustic guitar. Named one of Billboard’s 2011 Artists to Watch and winner of an MTV O Award for Most Innovative Video, Grammer is amazed at his success thus far.
“That I even get to play to a sold-out show where people know the words, and I’m singing about things I’m connected to is such as blessing,” says Grammer. “It’s the equivalent of a 9-year-old saying ‘I want to be an astronaut when I grow up’ and then getting to go to the moon. This year I’ve been to the moon, and it’s awesome.”
Grammer has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Live with Regis and Kelly. He also has toured with the Plain White T’s, Natasha Bedingfield, Colbie Caillat and Parachute.
General public tickets are $10. Tickets are available at the Augustana Ticket Office, 3703 7th Ave., Rock Island, during regular business hours. Or they can be charged by phone at (309) 794-7306 or purchased online at www.augustana.edu/tickets.
