Junior Katrina Colclasure is one of seven returning letter winners for the Vikings this season. Augustana is picked to finish seventh in the CCIW according to the preseason coaches' poll.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The volleyball coaches in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin have picked Augustana to finish in seventh-place in 2012 according to their preseason poll. The Vikings, led by third-year head coach Jamie Walters, received 14 points in the poll. Elmhurst, last season's runner-up, is predicted to win the CCIW this upcoming season receiving a total of 48 points in the poll. Defending champion Carthage is pegged for second with 40 points.

Augustana finished seventh in the CCIW in 2011 with a 1-6 mark in Walters' second season. The Vikings went 9-23 overall and return seven letter winners and four starters from last season's very young squad. Walters also brings in a large freshman class to help bolster the Augustana lineup.

Elmhurst, which was the runner-up in the 2011 CCIW tournament and NCAA tournament qualifier, garnered six first-place votes in the poll. Carthage, last season's conference tournament champion and NCAA tournament quarterfinals participant, collected the other two first-place votes. Millikin, last year's regular season runner-up in the CCIW, were picked for third place with 37 points. Illinois Wesleyan is projected to finish fourth with 31 points and Wheaton is tabbed for fifth place with 24 points. North Central is picked sixth, ahead of Augustana, with 23 points. North Park finished eighth in the poll with seven points.
