Student Athlete Profile
Bradley Monier '09
Elementary Education Major
Despite Bradley Monier's distinguished record as a safety and soon-to-be captain on the Augustana College football team, his list of volunteer credits and his leadership positions, Monier doesn't single himself out, as he believes that there is always more than one leader on a team. This and other lessons learned from Monier's coaches and teammates, who are among his top influences to succeed, have inspired Monier to excel on the football field, in the classroom and as a member of the Augustana community.
Recognized as the top volunteer in a new program, Athletes Giving Back, Monier was encouraged to get involved with the organization by an upperclassmen. During the '06-'07 academic year, Monier banked 22.5 volunteer hours throughout the 10 week Spring term while visiting the Children's Miracle Network in Iowa City, playing bingo at nursing homes, participating in buddy-buddy days at athletic events and other AGB activities. As the future Vice President of AGB during the '07-'08 school year, Monier hopes to continue the success of the program and to be able to involve all sports teams equally in this opportunity.
Monier's unique character shines through in the activities offered at Augustana College. After Augustana, Monier plans to utilize his gifts by becoming an elementary school teacher of either 4th or 5th grade, or he hopes to become an athletic director at the middle school or high school level.
