CLAREMONT, California - Augustana senior Adam Myers (Dixon HS, Dixon, Ill.) notched the first All-American certificate for Augustana at the 2012 NCAA Division III national track & field championships on Friday, May 25 in Claremont, California. He entered the NCAA meet at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College with the Augustana school record of 194' 0" set on April 21 of this year at the Meet of Champions. His best throw on Friday night at Burns Stadium eclipsed that record by one inch at 194' 1". That throw, which was 59.15 meters, came on his third throw of the competition.
Peter Delzer of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the event with a toss of 210' 2". Myers was throwing out of the first flight and finished fourth in the flight. He was just five inches shy of the sixth place throw by Adam Sellner of Ripon (194' 6") and the seventh place toss of Chinedum Umachi of M.I.T. (194' 5").
He was the only Augustana competitor in action on the second day and he earned one point for the Vikings with his eighth place finish.
