2011-12 Season - Jake Groselak named golf MVP

2012 Augustana Men's Golf MVP Jake Groselak.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Freshman Jake Groselak (Lemont HS, Lemont, Ill.) has been selected this year's Most Valuable Player for coach Paul Del Vecchio's Augustana golf program. In addition, the Vikings honored freshman Grant Murphy (Dunlap HS, Peoria, Ill.) as Newcomer of the Year and sophomore John Stone (Rockridge HS, Reynolds, Ill.) as Most Improved.

Groselak led the Vikings with an 18-hole average of 81.5 strokes this season. His best finish was a tie for fifth place at the Vike-Fire-Scot Triangular. A pair of 77's, one at the Duane Chanay Invitational and one at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, represented his lowest rounds of the year. He tied for 31st at the CCIW tournament with a four-round total of 328.

Murphy, like Groselak, played in all 23 rounds this year and was right behind him with an average round of 82.2 strokes. He had the team's lowest round of the season with a one-over par 73 at the Blueboy Invitational. His best finish was a tie for 14th at the Elmhurst Invitational and he equaled Groselak's 328 at the conference tournament.

Stone averaged 86.7 strokes over three rounds. His best round was an 83 at the Duane Chanay Invitational and his best finish was a tie for 21st at the Vike-Fire-Scot Invitational.
