Augustana senior Brittany Reece (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) has been named the "Player of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) for women's tennis. She shared the award with Carthage's Bari Reynolds. Reece received the accolade for the week ending April 29. This is the second time in Reece's career that she has been named "Player of the Week" in the CCIW.
Reece had a sterling week for the Vikings, finishing 4-0 overall. Playing at number two singles, the Augustana captain defeated Loras's Sarah Alt 6-1; 6-0, and Beloit's Maria Mears 6-0;6-2. She then paired with sophomore Kim Sawyer (Batavia HS, Batavia, Ill.) at number one doubles to defeat Loras' Ale Ruales and Rachel Weglarz, and then teamed with Krista Panko (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) to beat Beloit's Alex Hinck and Ashley Miglin at number two doubles.
The weekend upped Reece's career win total to 107, good for 15th on Augustana's all-time list. Reece, who was a second team all-conference selection in the fall, will finish her career at the CCIW tournament this weekend at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill.
Reece is the daughter of John and Cathy Reece of Naperville, Illinois and is finishing up her major in elementary education.
