The River Readings series at Augustana College hosted novelist Jaimy Gordon, winner of the 2010 National Book Award for her novel Lord of Misrule, on April 19. In this video, Dr. Gordon reads from Lord of Misrule and takes questions from the audience.
The River Readings series brings writers of fiction, nonfiction and poetry to Augustana's campus for students and the community.
In addition to her National Book Award, Dr. Gordon received an Academy Institute Award for fiction from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. Her novel Bogeywoman made the Los Angeles Times list of the Best Fiction of 2000, and a third novel, She Drove Without Stopping, was an American Library Association Notable Book.
Dr. Gordon received a doctorate of arts in creative writing from Brown University. As she prepares to retire from her position as a professor at Western Michigan University after 30 years, Dr. Gordon says she looks forward to teaching for her own pleasure and traveling the nation to colleges and universities.
