2012 Season - Jones grabs "Runner of the Week" honor in CCIW

Junior Sarahbeth Jones (Warren Township HS, Wadsworth, Ill.) has been named the "Athlete of the Week" for women's track & field in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Jones was honored after her performance at the Augustana Spring Opener in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, March 24.
She won the 3000 meter run with a new school record time of 9:58.95. Her time betters the old school record of 10:02.85 set by former Viking All-American Susan Paige back in 1998. She also won the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:41.42.
Jones is coming off a terrific indoor season where she was name the "Most Valuable Runner" for the Vikings. She capture the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) championship in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:21.38 at the conference meet on February 25 at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. She also anchored the Vikings distance medley relay to victory in a school record time of 12:13.73, and finished third in the mile in 5:01.
She has been a two time place winner in the 800 at the CCIW outdoor championship meet during the first two years of her career at Augustana. This past winter she won "Runner of the Week" honors on January 24 from the CCIW. She was also honored by the league as a recipient of the Jack Swartz Award for her combination of athletic prowess and academic excellence in both the fall and winter seasons.
The daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Jones of Glen Allen, Virginia, Sarahbeth is and English and mass communications major.
