Art students 'opening doors' for women

Augustana art students work on transforming a door into something more for the Opening Doors Gala, a benefit for Family Resources Inc., on April 13. The theme of the gala is to open new doors for women coming out of the domestic violence shelter and also opening the doors to the shelter for women who need help.

The Augustana door and others painted by local grade school, high school and college students will be on display at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, the week before the fundraiser. Habitat for Humanity donated the doors for the project.

The gala will be held at the Figge. To register, contact Rachel Klein at (563) 468-2140 or via email, rklein@famres.org. by April 6.
