2012 Season - Juhl named CCIW "Hitter of the Week"
|Junior shortstop Jeremy Juhl was named the "Hitter of the Week" in the CCIW after collecting 10 hits in 17 at-bats as Augustana swept four games in Florida and outscored its opponents 47-7.|
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Augustana junior shortstop Jeremy Juhl (Glenbard East HS, Lombard, Ill.) has been named the "Hitter of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin after enjoying quite a weekend in Florida. Juhl, the Vikings' leadoff hitter, helped his team go 4-0 during a quick trip down to Ft. Myers, Florida.
Juhl batted .588 with 10 hits in 17 at-bats as Augustana outscored its opponents 47-7 en route to moving its record to 11-2 on the season. He scored seven runs, had two doubles, a walk and eight runs-batted-in. His slugging percentage on the trip was an impressive .706.
The Vikings won a double header on Friday, March 16 over Minnesota-Morris by scores of 6-1 and 20-0 and Juhl pounded out seven hits on the day in nine at-bats with two doubles, five RBI and five runs scored. He followed that up with a three for five performance in a 16-6 win over Wisconsin-Lutheran on Saturday, March 17. In that game he scored two runs and drove in three.
With his 10-for-17 week, Juhl has taken over the team lead in batting at .444. He also leads in at-bats (54), hits (24), runs (19) and is tied with senior outfield Mike Barker (Centennial, Colo. Grandview HS, Marina del Rey, Calif.) for the team lead with 12 RBI.
He has been instrumental in the 24th ranked Vikings getting off to an 11-2 start and they are currently riding a nine game winning streak.
