2011-12 Season - Vikings fall at Florida Tech

Senior Brittany Carr shot 91 to lead Augustana in the Vikings loss at Florida Tech on Thursday, March 1 in Melbourne, Florida.

MELBOURNE, Florida - Augustana dropped a 320-396 decision to Florida Tech on Thursday, March 1 at Baytree National Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida. The Vikings played this match as part of their annual spring-break trip to Florida.

Jessica Hook and Rachel Polson of Florida Tech posted the top individual scores of the day with identical 79's on the par 72, 6,078 yard layout at Baytree National.

Augustana was led by senior Brittany Carr (Lincoln-Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.), who recorded a 91 and finished in a tie for fifth place individually. She had a 42 on the front nine and a 49 on the back. Sophomore Kelly Farina (Normal West HS, Bloomington, Ill.) had the second lowest score for the Vikings as she shot 101. She had a 59 on the front nine but recovered to shoot 42 on the back.

Junior Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) and sophomore Kelly Olson (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) each had 102. Vandersee went 56 and 46 on the respective nines while Olson carded a 48 on the front and a 54 on the back. Sophomore Jamie Lawrence (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) shot a 108 with a 56 on the front and a 52 on the back.

Augustana will be back in action again on Sunday, April 1 at the Loras Invitational in Peosta, Iowa.
